The Government of Canada is taking Canada’s Housing Experience to International Markets:

Canada is known worldwide for its innovations in energy-efficient and healthy housing. For 50 years, Canada’s three science-based agencies, Natural Resources Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and National Research Council Canada have worked with housing partners to accelerate the research and development of world-leading energy-efficient and healthy housing technologies. In support of Canada’s renowned housing industry, Canadian agencies are expanding their activities to the international market and actively promoting the benefits of Canada’s housing products and systems. Super E® is a strategic initiative that was made possible by the on-going efforts of these Government of Canada agencies.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is the federal department responsible for the management of Canada’s natural resources and the responsible reduction in greenhouse gas emission associated with the production and uses of energy in Canada.

In the housing sector, NRCan:
  • accelerates and deploys energy and environmentally responsible technologies;
  • conducts research that results in more energy efficient technologies and environmentally friendly products; and
  • creates confidence in the marketplace for new generation technologies.

Internationally, NRCan has developed the Super E® House as the commercially-available application of the R-2000 Program and “Healthy Housing” principles. Modeled on Canada’s R-2000 Program, Super E® enhances the proven reputation of wood appropriate market-ready energy and environmental technologies. Together with a strong quality assurance program, Super E® provides durable and comfortable housing that is healthy to the occupants and the environment.
